Phoning mothers with infants is rarely a good idea

Sometimes it’s just timing. If you call and get a mother with a screaming baby on the other end, get your point across and prepare to hang up. The mother knows the call is important, that’s why she took it, but don’t take a whole five minutes of woffle before you get to the point. Any excess words will be treated with utmost snarkiness.

Of course once I hung up, put baby on the boob, there was instant calm and quiet. She promptly fell asleep. I could have called back but not to listen to woffle.
